How to Choose the Right Golf Cart Charger
Three requirements must match for a charger to work correctly with your cart:
Voltage: Must match your pack (36V, 48V, or 72V)
Chemistry: Lead-acid profile vs. lithium profile — these are NOT interchangeable
Plug type: Must fit your cart's charging port (OBC, SB50, Lester, 3-pin, etc.)
What Makes a Good Golf Cart Charger
- Automatic shutoff when fully charged (never a manual timer)
- Multi-stage charging (bulk → absorption → float) for lead-acid
- CC-CV profile (constant current, constant voltage) for lithium
- Temperature compensation for lead-acid systems
- Amp rating: 15–20A is ideal for home use; 25–30A for faster charging or fleet
