E-Z-GO Golf Cart Voltage: Which Model Uses What?

E-Z-GO has been producing electric golf carts for decades, and the voltage can vary significantly by model and year. Here's a complete reference guide.

E-Z-GO Voltage by Model and Year

ModelYear RangeVoltageConfig
E-Z-GO TXT (Electric)1996–200936V6 × 6V
E-Z-GO TXT (Electric)2010–201348V6 × 8V
E-Z-GO TXT (Electric)2014+48V6 × 8V
E-Z-GO RXV2008+48V6 × 8V
E-Z-GO Express S4 / S62019+48V6 × 8V
E-Z-GO Liberty2020+48V6 × 8V
E-Z-GO Valor2020+48V6 × 8V
E-Z-GO 2Five (LSV)2009–201648V6 × 8V

Gas E-Z-GO models (TXT Gas, RXV Gas) do not use a battery pack for propulsion but have a 12V starting/accessory battery — not a traction pack.

The TXT Transition: 2009–2011

This is the most common point of confusion. E-Z-GO transitioned the TXT from 36V to 48V around 2009–2010, but production overlapped. A 2010 TXT might be either voltage. Always confirm by reading the battery labels — never assume by year alone.

Charger Identification

E-Z-GO PowerWise charger: Look for the voltage printed on the charger body. PowerWise 36V and PowerWise 48V look very similar but have different plug configurations — the 36V plug will not physically fit the 48V port on newer carts (the receptacle changed in 2010).

Upgrade Options

E-Z-GO RXV and newer TXT carts are excellent candidates for lithium upgrades. The RXV in particular has a clean battery tray well-suited for drop-in lithium packs. See our lithium upgrade service or call 1-844-844-6638 for a free quote.
