Lithium Golf Cart Battery Voltage Chart
LiFePO₄ (lithium iron phosphate) batteries have a fundamentally different voltage profile than lead-acid. The most important difference: the voltage stays nearly flat across 80% of the usable range, making voltage-based SOC estimation difficult without a BMS display.
48V Lithium (LiFePO₄) Voltage Reference
This applies to 16-cell packs (16S configuration), the most common 48V lithium format:
| State of Charge | Pack Voltage | Per Cell |
|---|---|---|
| 100% (fully charged) | 58.4V | 3.65V |
| 90% | 54.0–55.0V | 3.38–3.44V |
| 80% | 53.0–54.0V | 3.31–3.38V |
| 60% | 52.0–53.0V | 3.25–3.31V |
| 40% | 51.5–52.5V | 3.22–3.28V |
| 20% | 51.0–52.0V | 3.19–3.25V |
| 10% | 49.0–51.0V | 3.06–3.19V |
| BMS cutoff | ~40–44V | 2.50–2.75V |
Key insight: The difference between 80% and 20% SOC is only about 1–2V — nearly impossible to measure accurately with a basic multimeter. This is why a BMS display is essential for lithium packs.
72V Lithium (LiFePO₄) Voltage Reference
For 24-cell packs (24S configuration):
| State of Charge | Pack Voltage | Per Cell |
|---|---|---|
| 100% (fully charged) | 87.6V | 3.65V |
| 80–20% (flat range) | 76.8–81.6V | 3.20–3.40V |
| 10% | 73.5–76.0V | 3.06–3.17V |
| BMS cutoff | ~60–66V | 2.50–2.75V |
