Florida Statute §316.212 governs golf cart operation on public roads and is one of the most golf-cart-friendly statutes in the country.

Key provisions:

• Golf carts may operate on roads posted 30 mph or less if the governing authority (county or municipality) has approved golf cart use on that road
• Golf carts do NOT need to meet full LSV standards for use on approved roads — they can operate as golf carts (not as NEVs) in many jurisdictions
• Street-legal "low-speed vehicle" status under Florida Statute §320.01 allows operation on roads up to 35 mph
• LSVs must be titled, registered with FLHSMV, and insured
